How does this poker equity calculator work?

It deals every possible remaining card combination when the board is partly known (exact enumeration), or simulates 100,000 random runouts preflop (Monte Carlo), then compares the best five-card hand for each player. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

How accurate is a 100,000-run Monte Carlo simulation?

Within about ±0.3 percentage points of the exact number, which is more precise than any decision at a table requires. With a flop or turn entered, the calculator switches to exact enumeration and the result has no sampling error at all.

What does equity mean in poker?

Equity is your share of the pot if the hand were run to the river many times: 70% equity in a $100 pot is worth $70 on average. All-in decisions compare the price you pay against this number, which is why knowing common matchup equities by heart is worth real money.

Why does AA sometimes lose to random hands?

Aces are roughly an 85% favorite against a random hand, which means they lose about one in seven times by design. Equity describes frequencies, not guarantees, and the losing 15% feels far more memorable than the winning 85%.
